Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
