Esteemed Actor The actor Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Dies at Age 60.
Stateside performer Finn, who appeared in popular TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a announcement.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.
He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of well-known programs, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe named "Beer Shark Mice".
"He coached, befriended and mentored countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote on social media.
The actor is remembered by his partner Donna, his children, and his family.
