Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“It occupies a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded after a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The diverse array of performers featured on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a trio of music creators. The track blends a fusion of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The team running the campaign have clarified that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a representative commented. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The context in the area was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a digital service from mid-December.
