Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for questions to be asked about his position following a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
